The apostle Thaddaeus/ቅዱስ ታዴዎስ ሐዋርያ

The apostle Thaddaeus was one of the 12 Twelve Apostles.

Matthew 10:1-4

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

The apostle is also called Lebbaeus and Judas (not Iscariot). When Our Lord and Saviour Eyesus Kirstos and the twelve disciples were gathered in the Upper Room for the Last Supper. The Lord was speaking to them about the troubling matter of His impending death. The apostles had questions and concerns. Thaddeus is the disciple who reveled their concern.

John 14:19-23

19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

After the Ascension of Our lord and Savior the apostles divided the world by lot according to the order, they received from their master

Saint Thaddeus came to Syria and preached the good news in and performed miracles Syria, Edessa (Northern Greece), Mesopotamia and the to the city of Beirut.

One of his miracles was, an arrogant rich man approached Saint Thaddeus and said, "Your Master said, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. If your Bible is true, then show it to us."

The apostle Thaddaeus said yes, every word in the bible is true. The apostle Thaddaeus also had a neighbor who made needles, and he sent someone to make a needle. The needle maker opened the hole a little bigger to help the Apostle. But Apostle Thaddeus smiled and said, no matter how wide the needle hole, the camel will pass. Thank you for your help but please send me another one. The needle man sends him again, this time with small hole. Then The apostle raised his eyes to heaven and said, "My God, I do not do this for the sake of my glory, but for the glory of your name. Thank you for hearing my prayer!".

As soon as he finished praying, he went over to the camel and make her to walk. The camel walked and slipped through the needle hole in front of everyone. He made her to walk through the needle hole for a second time and a third time. When the people saw this wonderful miracle of God, many believed and were baptized and said they never had seen such miracles since the creation of the world. But we saw it here today and they thank God.

On Hamele 2 (July 9), the apostle St. Thaddeus was tortured and killed by pagans in Beirut. He received the crown of martyrdom.

Thanks be to God for including us in the apostle's blessing.
